Mummy Coffin Fix

The following fix is compliments of Steve Trischetta !

  1. Remove the plastic shield from the Mummy assembly (two screws) and set aside.

  2. Get a piece of THIN corrugated cardboard and cut it to match the shape of the right-side of the Mummy assembly bracket. Brown is probably best, since it won't show against the brass(?) of the bracket.

  3. Manually hold open the coffin and slide the cardboard between the bracket and the coil shaft. Affix it in place with some magic tape. Don't use "shiny" clear tape. It's not as "invisible".

  4. Reattach the plastic shield.

What you've done is make sure a little bit more of the metal shaft is inside the coil, so when the coil activates, it "grabs" better. You may notice that the coffin doesn't close completely. If the cardboard is thin enough, the difference will be insignificant. To make the cardboard thinner, I stripped a layer off it.

Since I made this change, the coffin has not failed to open once (in ~50 times).
